Nevada Tax Exemptions
The Nevada Legislature provides for property tax exemptions to Nevada residents meeting certain requirements.
Who Qualifies for an Exemption
Nevada Wartime Veterans
Nevada Wartime Veteran’s Tax Exemption applies to residents who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States in any of the following branches: Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, the National Guard, or Reserves, while on active duty and the Merchant Marine during time of war or national emergency.
The veteran must have served a minimum of 90 continuous days of active duty.
Disabled Veterans
Disabled Veteran’s Exemption which provides for veterans who have a permanent service-connected disability of at least 60%.
The amount of exemption is dependent upon the degree of disability incurred.
To qualify, the Veteran must have an honorable separation from the service and be a resident of Nevada.
The surviving spouse of a disabled veteran, who was eligible for this exemption at the time of his or her death, may also be eligible to receive this exemption.
Surviving Spouse
To apply for the Surviving Spouse’s Exemption you must be a bona fide resident of the State of Nevada and provide a copy of your valid Nevada Driver’s License or Nevada Identification Card as well as provide a copy of your spouse’s death certificate.
Blind Persons
The Blind Exemption is available to residents whose visual acuity with correcting lenses does not exceed 20/200 in the better eye, or whose vision in the better eye is restricted to a field which subtends an angle of not greater than 20 degrees.
How to Use the Exemption
Property Taxes
The exemption amount may be applied to next year’s tax bill on real property owned.
DMV Registration Taxes
As another option, the exemption may be applied toward the Government Services and Supplemental Governmental Services Taxes when registering a vehicle with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Donate Exemption
In addition, any person who qualifies for an exemption may in lieu of claiming the exemption elect to direct the County Tax Receiver to deposit that amount for credit to the Gift Account for the Veterans Home in Southern Nevada or the Gift Account for the Veterans Home in Northern Nevada.
Exemption Split
Your exemption can be split between any of the taxes you owe in any combination.

How to Apply for Your Exemption
The benefits are administered by your County Assessor.
You may visit one of the Assessor’s Office locations, or fill out and sign an Assessor’s Exemption Application Form in front of a Notary Public and mail that application to the Assessor’s Office.

After filing the original affidavit, the County Assessor will mail you an Exemption Renewal Post Card each year.
To continue your exemption, simply sign and return this post card to the Assessor’s Office.
Clark County Exemption Renewal Post Cards are mailed out annually usually in the month of October.
